KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo kicked off a year-long visioning process this weekend that will eventually result in a 10-year master plan for development and community improvements.
Planning Director Laura Lam said they are not only looking for new ideas for the city, but looking for new ideas on how to get those new ideas for the city.
“At this point, we’re really open to people’s suggestions — we kind of want to make this a little bit of a choose-your-own-adventure,” Lam said. “We figure, if you’re going to do good engagement, ask the people you’re going to engage the best way to do it.”
Lam said they intend on holding a session at Kalamazoo City Hall during Art Hop, town forums, online chats and a number of other gatherings for brainstorming.
“The engagement that we’re trying to focus on is going where people are, as opposed to them coming to us,” Lam said.
