WHITE PIGEON (WTVB-AM) — A St. Joseph County restaurant had been closed for about an hour last night when it had an unscheduled drive-in customer.
Michigan State Police say it happened about 10:15 p.m. at Jaywalker Restaurant on US 12 near M-103 in Mottville Township. Troopers say a 2005 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on US 12 when the driver lost control, hit the curb and lost a wheel, which struck a vehicle in the restaurant’s parking lot.
The pickup then continued, struck the Jaywalker building itself, then rolled over, hitting several trees before coming to a stop in the parking lot on the west side of the business.
The 25-year-old Indiana man behind the wheel was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment and is listed in good condition.
He was believed to be wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
