KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — About 6,700 Consumers Energy customers on Kalamazoo’s east side lost power Monday night after a failure at a substation.
The outage mostly affected those along Gull Road.
Borgess Hospital fired up their backup generators to keep the lights on and their life-saving equipment humming.
Traffic backed up at intersections, which became four way stops, and a few businesses, suddenly found themselves out of business.
The lights were back on by 11 p.m.
