BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — The Sears in Battle Creek appears to have been spared from closure.
The struggling retailer announced it would shutter 50 of its most-unprofitable stores and possibly sell off its auto service and tire business after a holiday season that lagged expectations, but officials at the location at the Lakeview Square Mall near Interstate 94 say they’re staying open.
It’s not clear if any other stores in southwest Michigan will face closure. An official closure list has yet to be released.
