BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A child is being accused of setting fire to a home in Battle Creek that his family had lived in until a recent eviction.
The 15-year-old was watching the home burn when the first Battle Creek firefighters rolled up to 25 Gardenia St. at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The front of the home was engulfed in flames by that time.
Investigators questioned the teenager, who confessed right away that he was angry about the eviction and responsible for the fire at the home, which was being remodeled.
The structure was heavily damaged. The teenager is being held at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home.
