KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The owner of Sophia’s Pancake House has issued an apology through social media, admitting his restaurants in Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor were guilty of making mistakes in how employees were compensated.
John Filis blamed a breakdown in the system and claimed that changes have been made to fix the problems.
The restaurateur has been ordered by the U.S. Department of Labor to pay past and current employees nearly $250,000 for unpaid overtime, misdirected tips and other fees.
