MATTAWAN (WKZO-AM) — Grief counselors will be on hand Monday morning at Mattawan Schools, where 17-year-old Tyler Smith attended classes.
Smith and his father, 53-year-old Richard Smith, were both shot to death in Kalamazoo at the KIA dealership on Stadium Drive on Saturday. They were looking at a car after the business had closed.
Prosecutor Jeff Getting said cooperation from the owner of the dealership and management at the Cracker Barrel helped identify the vehicle the gunman was driving.
“There’s just no question, more people would have died if they hadn’t found him when they did,” Getting said.
Sources say the video was not sharp enough to provide the license plate number, only the make and model of the car.
