PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The city manager of Portage says he’s initiating a review of the timeline that took place Saturday night to see if and when the city’s active shooter alert system should have been triggered.
Right now, Laurence Shaffer thinks Portage acted appropriately.
“In the fog of events that were occurring, at least for right now, I can’t see at any one point or time when we would have activated our own Portage alert system,” Schaffer said.
He said fast is good, but fast and accurate is better.
“There only thing worse about having no information is providing bad information,” Shaffer said.
Portage Public Safety Chief Richard White said, by the time the information came together Sunday morning, many residents would have been awaken from a sound sleep.
