KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety says it’s not any closer to uncovering a reason for the trio of shootings in the Kalamazoo area that left six dead and two others gravely wounded.
Chief Jeff Hadley is not sure what prompted 45-year-old Jason Dalton to open fire at three locations on Saturday.
“Nothing in his history, as far as we know of, paints to anything to where we can say, ‘OK, I can see why he did this,’” Hadley said. “No mental health history that we know of, no criminal history.”
He was also baffled by Dalton’s post-arrest demeanor.
“This is one of the most unaffected and more-monotone suspects we’ve ever seen, based on the magnitude of the events,” Hadley said.
Dalton is being held without bail on six counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
