KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo city commissioners will finally meet Monday afternoon to discuss what they’ll do with a set of recommendations from a Blue Ribbon Revenue Panel assigned to find new sources of income for the city.
Commissioners complain that, between the Headlee amendment and laws prohibiting certain fees and taxes, they don’t have a lot of options and a growing deficit.
Several city officials say that the four suggestions put forth by the task force in December will not provide the city with the help it needs in the next four to five years, when they need it most.
The meeting had been scheduled for last Monday but was cancelled following last weekend’s shootings.
It will be held at Kalamazoo City Hall at 4 p.m.
