KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A pre-trial hearing is set for Thursday in the case of accused Kalamazoo mass-killer Jason Dalton.
Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said it’s a routine meeting between Dalton’s lawyer, Eusebio Solis, and the prosecution staff.
“The purpose of the probable cause conference is to allow the attorneys to discuss what the next steps in the case will be,” Getting said.
Dalton will not be present. Because of intense media attention, Getting plans to brief reporters after the hearing.
Getting said they will discuss whether the defense wants a psychiatric exam for their client and when copies of the police evidence will be sent to the defense. The 45-year-old’s preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for March 10.
Dalton is accused of killing six and wounding two others in a series of shootings last month. He has been charged with six counts of open murder, two counts of attempted murder and eight gun-related felonies.
