KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The treasurer of Kalamazoo County says she’s running for re-election this November.
Mary Balkema says she’s done well since taking the job in 2007.
“I have raised a lot of money to remove blight and stabilize the tax base,” Balkema said. “I collect, on a year, $150 million, and I’m a former banker, so all of my experience there comes into play.”
Balkema was a finalist for the county administrator position given to Terrence Neuzil last November.
She also spent five years on the Kalamazoo City Commission.
