KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, came to Kalamazoo on Monday morning and began his address with his best wishes for the Kalamazoo community in the wake of recent violent events here, saying if he’s elected president he will do something to address the problem of mass-murders.
An estimated 3,200 Sanders supporters turned out at the Wings Event Center to hear from Sanders, who trails Hillary Clinton by a double-digit margin. The Democratic presidential candidate did not waste time bringing his campaigns to western Michigan after Sunday night’s debate in Flint.
He talked about what he calls “the rigged economy,” saying that there are too few people earning all the money, and the rest are working for low wages and not getting ahead. He says his tax plans would fix that.
Clinton, the former secretary of state, also came to west Michigan, touring and talking with workers at software development company Atomic Object in Grand Rapids.
NBC News pollsters say either Clinton or Sanders would beat Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in the fall.
