BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A four-year-old is recovering after being struck, then trapped underneath a car on a Battle Creek street.
Police say the youngster was riding his bike on West Goguac Street before 2:30 p.m. Friday when a woman backed over him out of her driveway.
Despite being dragged under the car for a short distance, the boy suffered only scrapes and an injured ankle.
Neighbors helped free him.
The driver was ticketed for failing to yield, driving on a suspended license and no proof of insurance.
A two-year-old was rushed into the emergency room at Bronson Battle Creek at around 6 p.m. after he was run over by a car in the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Fremont Street.
A 22-year-old male had stopped at the home for some help with a car repair. As he was pulling the car in, the toddler dashed out in front of the car and was struck, knocked down and the front tire rolled over his abdomen.
The driver never saw the boy. He left the scene, then was tracked down and arrested.
The toddler is being treated at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. His condition was not released.
Battle Creek Police are warning drivers to be aware of playing children as the weather improves.
