BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — An accused violent drunk had to be restrained by Battle Creek police after he first attacked his girlfriend and her son, trashed a police cruiser then assaulted officers.
Calhoun County dispatch got the call for help early Saturday morning from a woman on East Goguac Street. She said her boyfriend had come home just after midnight drunk and spoiling for a fight.
The 38-year-old woman said he choked her and, when her 25-year-old son came to her rescue, he was also assaulted.
Officers were able to subdue the suspect and put him in the back of the cruiser. On the way back to the station, they say the suspect kicked out a window and damaged the security cage between the front and back seats.
They put him in further restraints. He continued his violent behavior at the station, so they zapped him with a stun gun, strapped him into a restraint chair and put a mask on his face to prevent him from spitting.
He is being held on multiple charges pending arraignment.
