KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting says, if the case against mass murder suspect Jason Dalton goes to trial, he hopes to try him in Kalamazoo.
He said, while there has been significant local coverage of the case in the media, that would be true of most of this region as well. He also said they have tried high-profile cases before in Kalamazoo and have been able to seat impartial juries.
Getting said, right now, the determination of whether it gets to trial is not entirely up to him. Dalton could plead guilty.
He doesn’t seem too concerned that Dalton might be found incompetent to stand trial, despite the suspect’s claim that he was taken over mind and body by his Uber app.
Detectives from all over the state are trying to determine if Jason Dalton may be responsible for their unsolved murders and shootings. It has been disclosed that Calhoun County investigators questioned whether Dalton was responsible for a series of unsolved shootings along Intersate 94 and Intersate 69 last summer, but now say its clear he wasn’t the gunman.
He was also questioned by Taylor police about one of their unsolved shootings.
