SCHOOLCRAFT (WKZO-AM) — A couple of citizens passing by a Schoolcraft police officer making an arrest became temporary crime-fighters when they aided the effort to subdue an unruly drunk.
The officer pulled over the 19-year-old Delton man on VW Avenue near 16th Street at around 4 p.m. Tuesday and managed to get him out of the car. But as he tried to put on the cuffs, the teenager tried to escape and the two ended up wrestling to the ground.
A passing bicyclist came to the aid of the officer and a passing driver stopped and called 911.
Soon after, a second Schoolcraft officer arrived the intoxicated teenager was subdued and cuffed.
Schoolcraft police say they’re grateful for the assistance of the two citizens.
