CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) Emmett Township Public Safety is looking for the armed robber who held up the cashier at Penny Pinchers on East Columbia Avenue, with a line of other customers behind him at the checkout counter.
It happened at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Apparently, the other shoppers were not aware at the time that he was brandishing a knife at the cashier and demanding that the clerk empty the drawer. The store owner apparently found out about it quickly, because he reportedly chased the robber out into the parking lot, and got a good look at his face when the orange bandana he was wearing fell off his face.
The suspect is desribed as being in his 40s and six feet tall. He had a scraggly beard and dark hair.
Police have a suspect vehicle. Investigators are looking for a short-bed General Motors or Chevrolet pickup painted in black primer.
