KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Jaycees and the Kalamazoo Blues Association teamed up for Kalamazoo’s latest fundraiser for the victims of last month’s mass murders.
Kalamazoo Strong Art and Song featured five bands, face-painting, a silent auction and other events at the Boatyard Brewing Company on Paterson Street.
Event Organizer Tina Truax said she lives at the Meadows Townhouse complex where the first shooting took place. She said she was in contact with several groups that wanted to do something so they combined their efforts.
All the proceeds will go to the “Help Now!” fund set up by the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek Community Foundations and by the United Way.
