KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A fund set up to help the victims of the shootings last month Kalamazoo has taken in about $142,000.
The money has come from 310 donors and organizations, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation said. So far, about $32,000 has been made available to victims, families and witnesses.
The agency continues to collect donations.
The fund was set up jointly by the community foundations in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek and the United Way. They have used their influence to leverage some of the local donations to get additional assistance from state and federal agencies.
Some has been spent covering funeral costs, lost wages and counseling services.
