KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Civic Theater says it’s $700,000 away from completing its $5.1 million “Art of Enriching Lives” campaign.
Spokesperson Janet Gover said a matching grant from the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation should help push the drive closer to its target.
“To have the Gilmore Foundation match us dollar-for-dollar … is very exciting,” Gover said.
The grant will double any new funds that come in. For example, if somebody gives $100, the foundation will give another $100, Gover said.
Gover said the funds will be used to repair the auditorium, the Parish Theater and the Carver Center.
“They’re all in desperate need of new roofs, we’re also going to update our hearing assistance devices in the auditorium and the Parish Theater, and also some recarpeting, which is depserately needed in the auditorium,” Gover said.
They’re expecting the money to be raised by May.
