KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A Kalamazoo Circuit Court jury has found Aaron Pelletier guilty of fleeing and eluding police and a gun felony, but found him not guilty on a second gun charge after a three-day trial this week.
Pelletier was behind the wheel of a red compact car that led police on a wild chase through Portage in May 2015. The car was eventually cornered in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the west side of the city.
When his brother, Sean Pelletier, emerged from the vehicle with an assault rifle, police opened fire, killing him at the scene. Aaron Pelletier was wounded.
Police were trying to serve an eviction notice on the brothers. They had been living in a home in Portage that was owned by their mother.
Pelletier is expected to be sentenced on May 16.
