KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The director of Kalamazoo’s Public Services Department is stepping down.
It’s not clear why Sue Foune opted to resign after being with the city for 24 years, but City Manager Jim Ritsema made it official in a press release Thursday.
The announcement came the same day Foune was named by Gov. Rick Snyder to his 21st Century Infrastructure Committee — officials with the Snyder administration say they’re now reviewing the appointment, WWMT-TV reports.
Foune replaced Bruce Merchant as director of the department in 2013.
Deputy Public Services Director James Baker will serve as interim director until the city can find a permanent replacement.
