KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Township investigators say a young man driving an old Toyota Camry at a high rate of speed eastbound on Mosel Avenue has been killed when the car went out of control and crashed.
Investigators say the driver swerved to miss a slower moving pickup going in the same direction, lost control of the 20-year-old vehicle, side-swiped the truck, crossed to the other side of the road, sheared off a utility pole and punched through a metal fence.
The wreckage landed in a parking lot.
It happened just before 6 a.m. Sunday near Mosel’s intersection with North Burdick Street.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 20-year-old Kalamazoo Township man’s name has not been released.
There were no injuries on board the pickup.
UPDATE – 4/4 at 1:05 p.m.: The driver who died in the wreck has been identified as 20-year-old Efosa Michael Asabor of Kalamazoo Township.
