KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo city commissioners approved plans to buy body cameras for public safety officers on Monday unanimously and without comment as part of the consent agenda.
They also approved acceptance of a $76,000 matching grant from the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority to help cover the $200,000 cost.
Officers will be wearing the cameras this summer.
In the meantime, forums will be scheduled to help the department of public safety discuss with the public how to best use the devices.
