STURGIS (WKZO-AM) — A $1,000 reward is now being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the vandals that trashed Oaklawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
Officials now estimate the cost of repairing the damage at cemetery at over $50,000 and authorities are anxious to bust and prosecute the people who are responsible.
Police say the vandals destroyed over 30 head stones and grave markers dating back as far as the 1800s. They also vandalized a small building on the cemetery property.
The crimes occurred sometime between Friday evening and Sunday.
