KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WKZO-AM) — A new GoFundMe page has been posted to help pay down the costs associated with the long-term recovery of the youngest victim of the shootings in Kalamazoo two months ago.
The Kopf family established the $100,000 drive for their 14-year-old daughter Abigail on Tuesday.
In a post on the page, mother Vickie Kopf said the money will be put toward outpatient treatments once Abigail exits a rehabilitation hospital in Grand Rapids. She also said the family’s home in Battle Creek will have to be remodeled so Abigail no longer has to use the stairs.
The initial drive, which helped pay down the family’s immediate medical expenses, eclipsed the $65,000 mark.
Kopf, who was struck in the head at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township, was one of two people who survived the rampage, which left six dead across three Kalamazoo locations.
The other survivor, 25-year-old Tiana Carruthers, who was shot four times, is expected to make a full recovery after she completes her rehabilitation.
The alleged gunman, 45-year-old Uber driver Jason Dalton, is jailed on 16 felonies.
