KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo city commissioners are accelerating their schedule as they look for alternative sources of revenue.
A few commissioners expressed a growing sense of urgency at Monday’s commission meeting. Using Flint as an example, several said they don’t want to end up with an emergency manager calling the shots.
The commissioners held a special session last month to review the Blue Ribbon Task Force recommendations, and city manager Jim Ritsema planned to present the reports that were requested at that meeting in June.
But commissioner Matt Milcarek says that’s too long to wait.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell agreed to call a special meeting sometime in the next three weeks.
