WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO-AM) — Dozens of immigrants and their family members from Michigan drove to Washington to demonstrate outside the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday.
The justices heard oral arguements about whether President Obama had the authority to issue an executive order that would hand work permits to the undocumented parents of children born in the U.S.
Eight-year-old Olivia Ramirez of Kalamazoo said she worries she could be separated from her parents if they were caught and deported.
But the justices focused on the constitution and what presidents can and cannot do.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said it seemed the justices sided with them, and will rule the executive order is invalid.
A decision may not come until June.
