LAPEER COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — Tuesday was the filing deadline for State and County candidates who want to run in the August primary all across the State of Michigan. One of the more unexpected filings comes from Todd Courser, who has filed to run for Lapeer County Prosecutor.
Courser doesn’t exactly have the best resume for a political candidate.
He resigned from the Michigan House rather than be expelled after a sex scandal and is currently charged with a felony and several misdemeanors for malfeasance in office and perjury.
Incumbent Prosecutor Tim Turkelson refused to prosecute two people who sent Courser emails, threatening to expose the affair with Cindy Gamrat if he didn’t resign.
Courser called that blackmail. Turkelson says they were just trying to get him to do the right thing.
