CASSOPOLIS (WKZO-AM) — A Benton Harbor man is being held in the Cass County Jail for a shooting in Dowagiac on April 11.
Police say it was a drug deal gone wrong that prompted Karl Ross Jr. to pull out his gun and shoot randomly into a unit at Eagle’s Trace Apartments on Amerihost Drive. A man who owed him money ran into that apartment earlier in the day.
Police say the unit was actually was occupied by a family that had nothing to do with the drug transaction.
There were five adults and a child inside the home at the time. None of them were struck by the random gunfire.
The 29-year-old was charged Friday with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon in possession of a gun.
