MARSHALL (WKZO-AM) — The man who was killed after his stopped car was rear-ended by a tractor trailer in the slow lane of eastbound Interstate 94 near the Interstate 69 interchange has been identified as 59-year-old Pavel Shabinevich of Vancouver, Wash.
Shabinevich’s car suffered significant damage when it was struck and pushed through the freeway’s cable guardrails after 2 a.m. Friday.
He died at the scene.
Toxicology tests are pending, but Calhoun County Sheriff’s investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was not hurt.
