JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A teenager has been killed in a violent collision in Cass County.
Cass County Sheriff’s deputies say, just before noon Tuesday, 25-year-old Jeffrey Jackson disregarded a stop sign at Pine Lake Street and Dailey Road in Jefferson Township and slammed into a northbound vehicle driven by 16-year-old Makayla McKenzie of Edwardsburg, who had the right of way.
The teen’s vehicle was forced off the road by the impact and overturned, landing on its top. McKenzie was dead at the scene.
Jackson, of Niles, and two teenagers from Edwardsburg, who were rescued from the overturned vehicle, were transported to a hospital in South Bend, Ind.
The wreck remains under investigation.
