KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Michael Legrand, an Oscar-winning composer, has been given an honorary degree from Western Michigan University officials as part of this year’s Gilmore Keyboard Festival.
Legrand has written over 200 film scores and has worked with a who’s who list in the music and film industries. On Wednesday, they played a video with congratulations from Tony Bennett, Jerry Lewis, Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones, John Williams and others.
As part of the festival, he will debut a new piece with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra on Saturday.
