STURGIS (WKZO-AM) — A 20-year-old woman is hospitalized at Bronson Methodist Hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking her dog near South Centerville and Fawn River roads in Sturgis.
Police found an off-duty nurse performing CPR on the victim when they arrived at the scene before 8 p.m. Wednesday. The victim, who is from Sturgis, was rushed to Sturgis Hospital before being airlifted to Kalamazoo.
The driver has been identified as a 25-year-old woman from Howe, Ind. She may face charges after police finish their investigation.
The victim’s dog died in the collision.
Alcohol and drugs appear to not be factors in the wreck.
UPDATE: The woman has now been pronounced dead.
