CLIMAX (WKZO-AM) — A search for a juvenile suspect in a series of overnight vehicle break-ins has forced a two-hour delay at Climax-Scotts Community Schools.
Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pauli Matyas said a firearm was taken from one of the vehicles.
“Deputies tracked one suspect and arrested him,” Matyas said. “One of the suspects is known, and that person’s parents have been contacted, however the gun has still not been recovered.”
School staff are currently under a lockdown, Matyas said.
Matyas said deputies are hoping to find the gun and finish the bulk of their investigation before school gets underway Monday morning.
UPDATE 5/16 at noon: School officials lifted the lockdown after 8 a.m. Both suspects have been found and the gun has been recovered.
