KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – While there were some delays at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport during one of the busiest traveling weeks of the year, airport officials say they are encouraged with how well things went during the stressful time.
The Sunday after Thanksgiving is widely considered one of the busiest travel days of the year, and delays were reported at major airports across the country as travelers flew home from their holiday destinations.
Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport Director Craig Williams told WWMT-TV, “We’ve actually had less delays, which is encouraging because it says that things are going well operationally.”
Once the new year begins, United Airlines will be leaving Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport because of pandemic impacts.
Williams said United Airlines accounted for about 20% of flights in Kalamazoo through October 2021.
Delta and American Airlines also fly out Kalamazoo. Williams says American accounted for 28% of flights while Delta accounted for 52%.
