KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The 14-year-old girl who survived the shooting rampage in Kalamazoo that left six dead in February is out of the hospital and home again after successful surgery on her skull.
Doctors installed a 3D-printed plate in Abigail Kopf’s head on Friday. She stayed in the hospital over the weekend after the procedure. A post on the family’s Twitter page shows Kopf relaxing at the hospital after the surgery.
Kopf, a native of Battle Creek, was one of five people gunned down in the parking lot of the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township. She was the only person to survive that attack.
The other survivor, 25-year-old Tiana Carruthers, picked up a $10,000 check from the Steve Harvey Show after being named a “Harvey’s Hero.” She is back home recovering from her four gunshot wounds.
Carruthers shielded four children from the gunfire, which allegedly came from 45-year-old Jason Dalton.
