KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — What could be a final chapter in the bizarre story of the Pelletier family of Portage may have been written in the Kalamazoo County Circuit Courtroom of Judge Alexander Lipsey.
Aaron Pelletier, who survived a violent confrontation between his brother and police after a high-speed chase through Portage a year ago, has been given two years in prison for his role in that event.
It all began when four members of the family got an eviction notice from their mother. It ended with Aaron and Sean Pelletier surrounded by police cars, the target of a hail of bullets.
Sean was killed, Aaron was wounded.
Sisters Michelle and Amy would subsequently be arrested following a barricaded standoff with officers. They were each given probation.
Aaron was convicted of fleeing and eluding and possession of a firearm. He apologized in court for everyone who was endangered on the day of his brother’s death.
