CASSOPOLIS (WKZO-AM) — An 18-year-old Niles resident is hospitalized after driving past a stop sign and and getting struck by a tractor trailer in Cass County.
Sheriff’s investigators say Tobin Michael-Ray Weldy was traveling westbound on Hospital Street when he collided with the commercial vehicle at M-60 after 10 p.m. Monday. He was driven to a hospital in St. Joseph after getting checked out at the scene by an ambulance.
The Illinois-based driver of the semitrailer was not hurt.
Investigators are trying to figure out if alcohol or drugs factored into the wreck. Both parties were wearing seat belts.
