KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan University’s Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Student Services is hoping to raise at least $2,000 for scholarships and internships through an online fundraiser set for Thursday.
Director Jen Hsu said the school is taking part in its first National Give Out Day.
“Only four percent of LGBT adults give to LGBT organizations,” Hsu said. “That was something that was so surprising to me, knowing that we work with so many LGBT adults who work so passionately about supporting the community.”
Hsu’s office has already received several donations for the drive.
