KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers have one teen in custody who was involved in a mugging on Kalamazoo’s north side and a second suspect is being sought.
Officers were dispatched to Glassmasters, a small manufacturing operation on Cobb Avenue, at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, where an employee had been assaulted in the parking lot by two young males.
One of them produced a gun and demanded the victim’s cash and cell phone. They also took his wireless headset and then assaulted the victim. He was treated at a hospital and released.
The two thieves fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. They were able to track one of the suspects to an address in the 1500 block of North Church Street, where they recovered the stolen phone and took a 17-year-old into custody for armed robbery and concealing stolen property.
The investigation is ongoing.
