KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — ***UPDATED from story: Multiple shootings at Kalamazoo Transportation Center Saturday morning, bus routes suspended.***
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is reporting that a gunman boarded a bus, opened fire and injured three people on that bus at the Kalamazoo Transportation Center on Saturday, November 27.
KDPS Police Chief Vernon Coakley said his office responded to a report of shots fired around 9:15 a.m. at the Kalamazoo Transportation Center at 459 Burdick Street in Downtown.
Upon arrival, officers blocked off nearby streets to the Transportation Center and found multiple gunshot victims with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Anthony Oliver, was shot by police. Medical assistance was rendered to Oliver who was then transported to a local hospital where he died.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Michigan State Police are investigating.
