BENTON TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — An autopsy has been ordered on the body of an NBC Sports employee who was found dead behind the Holiday Inn Express in Benton Township.
Officers were dispatched to the scene after hotel staff found a body behind the hotel on Pipestone Road at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday. Officers found 43-year-old Neiko Dominic Bernardo of Talent, Ore., dead under mysterious circumstances.
He had been part of the NBC crew in town for coverage of the Senior PGA Tournament. Sheriff’s deputies found controlled substances in his room at the hotel.
If no physical cause of death is found by pathologists, it could take weeks before test results are available.
