FILLMORE TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies have released the name of the teenager who died when he rolled his 1980 Mazda on M-40 in Fillmore Township on Wednesday.
The crash happened about 3 a.m. Deputies arrived a short time later to find 16-year-old Shawn Lee Marroquin unresponsive.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 26-year-old compact car had no airbags and Marroquin wasn’t wearing his seatbelt when the vehicle left the pavement and rolled several times.
The teenager was a student at Hamilton Community Schools, living with his grandparents.
Investigators are trying to determine why he lost control.
