PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — His friends said it was just a spat between neighbors over a girl, but Portage Public Safety officers are calling it a felony and have arrested 37-year-old Brandon Elliott of Portage for assault with a dangerous weapon and other charges.
He was taken into custody after a two-hour standoff with officers at the Red Roof Inn on Cork Street near Sprinkle Road late Tuesday.
Elliott did not have a gun when he was arrested, but police claim he did have a firearm when he confronted neighbors on Shumway Avenue.
Elliott has no previous record. He is being held on $20,000 bond.
