COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Once again farm equipment has tangled with traffic in Van Buren County.
It’s another sure sign of spring as farmers rush to prepare their fields for planting and use the public roads to get from one field to another.
Sheriffs Deputies say a man towing a Miller Nitro Farm Sprayer apparently tried to cut the corner at 52nd and 24th Avenue in Columbia Township too tightly, riding up on the front of a pick-up and tipping the sprayer on its side.
The truck suffered substantial damage to its front end and was towed away from the scene. They righted the sprayer and it suffered only minor damage.
Both drivers were from Grand Junction and the pick-up driver required treatment for minor injuries.
The farmer was cited for failing to yield.
An elderly woman in a Ford Bronco Pickup was seriously injured when her truck was struck by a tractor hauling plowing discs earlier in the week elsewhere in Van Buren County.
