VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A couple of elderly drivers collided along Red Arrow Highway on Monday, sending one to the hospital with multiple injuries.
It happened before 9 a.m. Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies say 81-year-old Joan Waitas of Lawton approached Red Arrow Highway from County Road 657 and failed to yield for a Toyota Hatchback driven by 70-year-old Larry Reynolds of Mattawan.
The impact knocked the smaller vehicle over and Reynolds had to be pried out of the wreckage.
He was transported to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo for treatment of back, neck and arm injuries.
