KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A 36-year-old man spent his Friday morning in the Kalamazoo County Jail after Kalamazoo Public Safety says he got drunk, went out of control and sheared off a power pole in the 2100 block of South Westnedge Avenue just before midnight.
It made a terrible mess. Several powerlines came close to the ground. His car ended up pressed against a house and a parked car.
A second car came along and was damaged when it hit some of the debris on the roadway.
The driver at fault and his two passengers suffered minor injuries. The second driver was not injured and neither was anyone in the home.
It took a couple of hours to reopen the roadway and a few more to replace the pole and restore power to homes in the area.
The driver was arrested for drunk driving second offense.
