CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A Coldwater man has been formally charged with a high speed chase through Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties.
Charles David Allen, 46, may have fled Friday because he was on parole for a 2000 armed robbery that was scheduled to end Friday, investigators said.
Investigators also said they noticed Allen tossing items from the pickup during the chase.
The pursuit began in Pennfield Township when police noticed a problem with his license plates. Sheriff’s deputies say Allen bolted, got onto Interstate 94 and did not pull over until he was west of Kalamazoo.
He then jumped out of the truck and tried to flee on foot, investigators said.
He has been charged with fleeing and eluding.
